TGE Tech Ltd.
TGE Tech technology is based on a specially designed proprietary reactor, which transforms the municipal waste it receives into a combustible synthesis gas and sterile ashes (only 15% in weight of the initial waste introduced). The gas generated is converted into useful electrical power or other clean energy. The Technology provides a simple, elegant and cost effective solution for one of the major environmental problems related to waste disposal and management in densely populated areas, while at the same time generating green energy, allowing saving otherwise spent monies for lesser landeffective solutions and generating substantial revenues. The heart of the TGE Tech process is based on the partial burning (thermolysis) of the waste, and further filtering the gases generated during this process through the solid material that results from the partial burning, thus providing inherent filtration of the generated gases. The patented Technology design (PCT) includes proprietary software, specifically conceived to automatically control, operate and optimize the entire reaction and waste flow processes.
GENERAL
The worldwide trend point towards landfills being replaced by thermal treatment processes. The strong factors in favor of the TGE Technology are the following:
- International experts agree that the Gasification process is an environmental friendly solution that is the most effective new generation waste thermal treatment.
- TGE Tech’s process is part of that leading and increasing thermal process
- portion of the Market
- Departments of Environment of the governments worldwide, especially in the Western World are increasingly sensitive to pollution and are tightening restrictions through the Standards for the disposal of waste and waste treatment products into the atmosphere.
- In various countries such as France, laws have been issued prohibiting landfill operation, since December 2002. Landfills must be replaced by less polluting solutions.
- In Israel, the sewage flow is still being pumped into deep Mediterranean Sea. By law, It will have to be replaced by a land-based solution within year 2006.
- At the same time the government’s Department of Environment are increasingly interested in and open to accept technologies such as gasification of waste.
-
In Israel there is no thermal waste treatment plant yet.
Pollution free and environmental friendliness:
- The only products generated in the TGE process are a clean combustible synthesis gas (Syngas) and sterile ashes. Both products can be constructively utilized.
- The Syngas, mostly a mixture of Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen and Nitrogen, is used for power generation, providing higher efficiency power than with other waste management technologies.
- The ashes generated can be used in road paving block manufacture or in the construction industry.
- Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which are the largest human generated greenhouse emissions directly linked with the present climatic changes, are considerably reduced in the combustion of the Syngas generated by the TGE process, thus minimizing environmental degradation, impact on air quality,as well as water and land pollution.
Economical and other benefits:
- Converts waste generated by large populations into useful power and other building materials
- The products, combustible gas converted into electrical power and inert ash, have a potential to generate significant income, in addition to the ecological solution the system provides to the Environment
- Simple innovative and compact design
- Modular concept
- Relatively low process temperatures
- Lower unit cost
- Simpler installation requiring lower cost
- Considerably smaller plant footprint
- Simpler operation and maintenance
- Lower operating costs
- No fuel requirements
- Ability to be custom-made, if there is a need to meet specific user’s requirements
- Ability to treat municipal waste without requiring preliminary sorting
- Ability to treat sewage
- Ability to treat used tires (which cannot otherwise be treated by other methods and represent a severe environmental problem)
- Cleaner exhaust gases
- Meets stringent International Environmental Standards
A. The advantages of the TGE technology compared with alternative waste removal methods.
Landfilling - The advantages of TGE's technology -
- Environmental quality - the pollution potential of a landfill finds expression for the most part in the creation greenhouse gases and toxic and explosive gases. TGE's facility is supposed to operate without the emission of toxic materials and gases.
- Treatment limitations - the landfills are a limited means of treating waste, since each landfill has a particular capacity, such that after a number of years the landfill can no longer contain waste. The ash from the TGE facility weighs 15% of the original waste, such that there is a savings on the volume and great weight of the waste.
- Savings on land resources - the disposal of waste in landfills consumes expensive land resources, which could have been zoned for open areas, nature reserves and housing. As the population grows, the need for land for landfills increases, but at the same time there is also an increase in the demand for alternative uses of the land and a land shortage arises. The use of the TGE facility is supposed to significantly reduce the volume of the waste, such that it is only necessary to dispose of a small percentage of ash.
Incinerators - The advantages of TGE's technology -
- Environmental quality - the most significant disadvantage of the incinerators is the fact that the process results in the emission of toxic gases, primarily dioxin. TGE's system is supposed to operate without the emission of toxic substances and gases.
- The cost per ton of waste is lower - in order to prevent the emission of gases, the incinerators require expensive control systems for the purpose of safeguarding against air pollution; in addition, it is necessary to replace expensive components, such as air filters, at a high rate of frequency. For these reasons, the cost of treating waste through incinerators is expensive (approx. $ 70 per ton on average); the costs at TGE's facility are supposed to be significantly lower - approx. $ 15-21 per ton .
- Better utilisation - TGE's facility is more efficient than ordinary burning facilities at utilising the gases emitted for the production of energy. An ordinary incinerator produces steam that utilises only approx. 10% of the calorific potential from the heat created by the burning. TGE's facility will produce gases directly and utilize approx. 40% of the gases' calorific potential.
- There is no need for fuel - apart from lighting the facility, no fuel is used in the burning process.
- Public attitude - the incinerators have a very negative image in the eyes of the public. TGE's facility is supposed to operate without the emission of toxic substances and gases, such that the public's attitude to this method of treatment should be positive.
